Into The Woods Day 5

Mackenzie Howard

Today, we went back the narrows. But instead of going Kayaking, we had the chance to walk along all of the hidden trails tucked beneath the treeline of the river. Our main assignments were to visit three stations. The first being the nature center where we were bale to look at live raptors up close. The raptors includes animals like; a barn owl, a turkey vulture, screech owl, and a red-tailed hawk. Of course that was in the outside exhibits. In the inside there were few live animals such as turtles and snakes but most of the center was made up of stuffed or dead animals skins.

The second place we had to visit was a small runoff stream that was connected to the river. There we were to sample to water flowing there to see how 'safe' the water was.

The thirds place we could visit was a large tree with a rope attacked to it. Even though you did have to get in the water the main point of us going there was just for everyone to be able to have at least a little fun on the hot day. After that we were free to roam the trails. It was a very fun day as going through the woods were were able to so so many animals in there natural free habit. Being able to explore on our own really allowed us to find different things scattered around the area. It also gave us the chance to explore and create fun new memories of our own without having to be told how to live in that moment. We were able to live free and in the moment, just like the animals that lived in nature around us.

Senses

I was able to find serenity in the soft tweets from the birds that were tucked away in the cover branches of the trees.

The cinnamon like smell floated through the woods brought calmness to my mind while the sights of baby geese floating down the river made me smile at all the earth has given us.

The soft mushy moss that laid under our feet rested like abed on the woodland floor.
