Today was the first day of The 'Into the Woods' STEMersion.
When first walking into school this morning I wasn't sure what to expect from this. From other students I've heard many different reactions. Some say that it was too exhausting (of course they weren't much outdoorsy people), and others said it was so fun!
My first day went really well! In the morning all the students in the classroom did many activities together in order to hopefully get to know each other a little better. This didn't take too long though as most of the students already knew each other. The first activity we did was a hand writing activity where we created a list of five different things that we 'identify' as, after everyone did this, we were required to walk around the room and find people who have those things in common with us by getting signatures on a paper cut out of a hand.
After we finished the first activity, we moved outside to play a game similar to musical chair, but with a twist of Simon says. Is allowed us to get to know each other in more of a group basis instead of 1 on 1.
As the day progressed we worked on editing our blog website and ended with a relaxing yoga session. You could either move along with the instructor or just lay on you mat to calm you mind (I of course decided to lay on my mat).
So far, I think this STEMersion is going to be one of my favorite.
